Kase and I have approximately 5 minutes together in the car on the way to his babysitter's house each today. Today we had a very enlightening conversation, and I thought I'd share it with you.
Mommy: "Kase, look at the cows in the field!"
Kase: "Yep, derdeyare (there they are)"
Mommy: "What are those cows doing?"
Kase (yelling at the cows): "COOOOOWS, wha donin?"
....followed by a few seconds of Mommy giggling....
Kase: "picnic"
Mommy: "Are the cows having a picnic?"
Kase: "Yep, nogurt (yogurt)."
Mommy: "The cows are eating yogurt?"
Kase: "Yep, nogurt. Horses. Burgers."
Mommy: "Are the horses going to eat burgers?"
Kase: "Yep, pretty soon. Picnic. Cows. Horses."
Mommy: "Oh, the cows and horses are going to have a picnic and eat yogurt and burgers?"
Kase: "Yep, funny. Funny cows. Funny horses."
Where do they learn this stuff?
Valentine's Day is in a month. What do you get a guy for Valentine's Day? For the past few years our church has put on a Valentine's Day supper to support student missions. I've always wanted to go, but, I'm a basketball coach's wife. Which means we've never had a chance to go. BUT...this year...there are no games! YAY! We're attending the supper with 3 other couples from our church who are WONDERFUL and I'm super excited!
Kase has turned into a grizzly bear. But not all of the time. Grizzly Kase only appears after we get home after I've been at work all day. I've tried everything I can think of to make Grizzly Kase not enter into my home, but to no avail. This new "visitor" in our house has caused me to change my routine. Now, I prepare our supper the night before we eat it. (See, I told you, my title should be "PLANNER.") This allows me to give Kase my undivided attention, in an attempt to see if my sweet little boy will make an appearance. The verdict is still out on whether or not this is working. Grizzly Kase (complete with screaming, hitting, and throwing toys) has been making a visit these last few days again. I do, however, LOVE being able to cook in the peace of my kitchen without worrying that a curious little 19-month old is going to pull a hot pan on himself.
That's right...19 months folks. NINETEEN MONTHS OLD! Where did this baby go?
I received 3 new books for Christmas. Sadly, I haven't had the time to pick them up yet. Mommy reading time is in short supply these days. One day maybe I'll read a grown-up book. Maybe in April. Because in April...
...we're headed to sunny Mexico! YAY! Keith's sister is getting married at a beautiful resort in Riviera Maya. Which means 5 days of lounging by the pool, reading grown-up books. I'm super excited for almost everything about the vacation, minus leaving Kase for a whole week, and minus the plane ride...I don't handle plane rides well. It's hard enough for me to relax on a car ride. Maybe if I do some planning I'll feel better.
Peace out,
Anita Sietstra
