fun & learning

Kase has become a BIG fan of puzzles lately.
He's actually quite good at them too!
Not only is it fun for him, but it's great learning skills for him...so Mommy has fun too!

I DID IT!!!

too much fun

Who knew these "toys" could provide so much fun?  We had a very eventful weekend playing!

A small flashlight provided much entertainment!
P.S. check out his slippers! :)

Kase loves to play with the flyswatter (don't worry, I washed it before he played with it).  Molly, however, is NOT such a big fan of it.

Kisses for Puppy, Whale & Kitty

He did some SERIOUS dancing...

...dance till you drop!

A new game this weekend was hide-and-seek!  Kase has yet to figure out that he needs to stay in his hiding place.  And, like most little kids, he only hides in one place.

It's been WAY too much fun playing with this little boy lately!  He's learning a ton right now, our latest interests are counting and letters of the alphabet.  He loves watching us write words on paper and spelling out the words as we go.  He's also become a big fan of coloring, especially his new Dora the Explorer coloring book.  We can't wait to see how he continues to grow and learn new things!

grody

I had big plans tonight...BIG plans.  Keith was going to be gone, so I had some big plans to get some work done.

But, Little Buddy wasn't feeling well tonight, so I put aside my big plans and spent a little more time snuggling, and a little more time loving.

The events that followed, however, were NOT a part of my plans.

Disclaimer: If you have a weak stomach, or have just eaten, you might want to skip these pictures.
If not, go ahead and scroll down...and laugh.

Yep, that's EXACTLY what it looks like.

That is POOP in my bathtub.

I don't know if this tractor will ever be the same.

THIS...WAS...GRODY

I think I scrubbed the bathtub so hard that I think I scrubbed the enamel clear off the tub.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go wash my hands for the 13th time.

random thoughts

So, you know the title that is below your name in your email signature?  Today I received an email from a woman whose title was "planner."  I want that job!  I think I may change my title.  It'll read, "Anita Sietstra, Planner" very fitting, eh?

Kase and I have approximately 5 minutes together in the car on the way to his babysitter's house each today.  Today we had a very enlightening conversation, and I thought I'd share it with you.
Mommy: "Kase, look at the cows in the field!"
Kase: "Yep, derdeyare (there they are)"
Mommy: "What are those cows doing?"
Kase (yelling at the cows): "COOOOOWS, wha donin?"
....followed by a few seconds of Mommy giggling....
Kase: "picnic"
Mommy: "Are the cows having a picnic?"
Kase: "Yep, nogurt (yogurt)."
Mommy: "The cows are eating yogurt?"
Kase: "Yep, nogurt.  Horses.  Burgers."
Mommy: "Are the horses going to eat burgers?"
Kase: "Yep, pretty soon.  Picnic.  Cows.  Horses."
Mommy: "Oh, the cows and horses are going to have a picnic and eat yogurt and burgers?"
Kase: "Yep, funny.  Funny cows.  Funny horses."
Where do they learn this stuff?

Valentine's Day is in a month.  What do you get a guy for Valentine's Day?  For the past few years our church has put on a Valentine's Day supper to support student missions.  I've always wanted to go, but, I'm a basketball coach's wife.  Which means we've never had a chance to go.  BUT...this year...there are no games! YAY!  We're attending the supper with 3 other couples from our church who are WONDERFUL and I'm super excited!

Kase has turned into a grizzly bear.  But not all of the time.  Grizzly Kase only appears after we get home after I've been at work all day.  I've tried everything I can think of to make Grizzly Kase not enter into my home, but to no avail.  This new "visitor" in our house has caused me to change my routine.  Now, I prepare our supper the night before we eat it.  (See, I told you, my title should be "PLANNER.") This allows me to give Kase my undivided attention, in an attempt to see if my sweet little boy will make an appearance.  The verdict is still out on whether or not this is working.  Grizzly Kase (complete with screaming, hitting, and throwing toys) has been making a visit these last few days again.  I do, however, LOVE being able to cook in the peace of my kitchen without worrying that a curious little 19-month old is going to pull a hot pan on himself.

That's right...19 months folks.  NINETEEN MONTHS OLD!  Where did this baby go?

I received 3 new books for Christmas.  Sadly, I haven't had the time to pick them up yet.  Mommy reading time is in short supply these days.  One day maybe I'll read a grown-up book.  Maybe in April.  Because in April...

...we're headed to sunny Mexico!  YAY!  Keith's sister is getting married at a beautiful resort in Riviera Maya.  Which means 5 days of lounging by the pool, reading grown-up books.  I'm super excited for almost everything about the vacation, minus leaving Kase for a whole week, and minus the plane ride...I don't handle plane rides well.  It's hard enough for me to relax on a car ride.  Maybe if I do some planning I'll feel better.

Peace out,
Anita Sietstra

moments like these

"So I'm down on my knees, help me soak it all in

I want all of this life that you let me live
So when time flies by Lord remind me to breathe

My heaven on earth is moments like these."

cookies with my brothas

While my family was here celebrating Christmas this year, we had some fun decorating Christmas cookies!  Me, Blake & Payton decorated the cookies that Keith and I had made a few days before my family came.

Here's are our finished products:

My cookies were...well...AWESOME (I'm very proud of them, if you can't tell)

This is one of Blake's cookies :) I called it his 3-year old train.  We thought it looked like a 3-year old decorated it :)

And this is Payton's creepy angel.  Payton was a BIG fan of the black frosting...his cookies turned out...interesting :)

We had a GREAT time decorating cookies...laughed ALOT...and only sampled a few :)  I think this should be a new Boone family Christmas tradition!

Family on a Mission

We'd like to introduce you to 19 fabulous girls, and members of our "Family on a Mission."

A few days before Christmas we had the privilege of hosting Keith's basketball girls for a Christmas party.   We had a white elephant gift exchange (with some pretty impressive gifts!)

Then we crammed all 19 girls, 2 coaches, one wife, and one baby into our dining room for a feast!

Let me tell you, these girls can eat!  We went through:
15 pounds of roast
10 pounds of potatoes
4 bags of corn
1 7-layer salad
1 jello salad
3 dozen rolls
4 pitchers of lemonade
2 pitchers of fruit punch
1 gallon of milk
and LOTS of goodies

WOW!!!! :)

Kase enjoyed having the "girls" over to his house, but didn't venture too far from Mommy or Daddy!

Their Christmas gift was a rubber band bracelet with their team motto "Family on a Mission" on one side, with "Bravette Basketball" on the opposite.

It has been a pure joy getting to know these girls and have them over to our house!
