Little Boy's "troubles"

There once was a boy who thought it was fun to sneak out of his bed after Mommy & Daddy said good night, claiming he was having "trouble sleeping."  Little Boy's Mommy, who knew these meetings to be unnecessary, implemented a new idea.  Little Boy was allowed to look at books or play with quiet toys if he had trouble sleeping, but he MUST stay in his bed...or lose his beloved blankie.  Did it work?

Night #1 was a success!

He had every light turned on, all of Isaac's supplies were out out, and a large number of books were spread out across his bed (as seen above)...but...he was sleeping!

kase's quotes & picture update

These quotes, I'm choosing to believe, were meant to be terms of endearment

Me: "Kase, what would you like to be for Halloween?"
Kase: "Umm...what about Tarzan?!"
Me: "Tarzan, huh? Interesting choice...not gonna happen, but interesting!"
Kase: "Yeah Mom, I'll be Tarzan and you can be that big gorilla!!!"
Me: "Gee, thanks buddy."

Kase: "Mommy I picked up my toys like you said."
Me: "Thank you Big Boy!"
Kase: "I'm a big boy, Lydia's a big girl, and you're a big Momma!"

Daddy's under that mess somewhere...

Yep, every single sticker is on this project!

And then Buzz Lightyear came and wanted to practice cutting.

please sleep

Dear Lydia,

Please sleep at night.

While I do cherish our mother-daughter bonding, Momma needs her sleep.

Second, if you DO choose to be awake at 2:00AM, please let Daddy rock with you without screaming.  Daddy loves you too.

God rested, so you should rest...

...please...

...pretty please!

Love,
Momma

child-like faith

This past Easter Kase became very interested in the story of Jesus dying on the cross as well as the events leading up to His death.  He asks a lot of questions about people hitting Jesus with a whip, the crown of thorns, the angel in the tomb, etc.

Today he was engaged in some imaginative play before work, and by now I've realized that it's just best if I stay out of the way while he's playing imagination.  There aren't many times where he'll play by himself, so I try to encourage imaginative play as much as possible.

I was in my bedroom and I hear him yell, "HEY, STOP IT!"

Immediately I peek my head out thinking that he's doing one of two things:
1. Chasing Molly and Molly won't cooperate (because she's smart and is hiding), or
2. Lydia is chewing on one of his toys

Neither, in fact.

He's running from the living room into the dining room with a vacuum attachment as a sword (what, you mean there's a real purpose for those vacuum hoses other than swords?).  He arrives at his "target" and yells, "LEAVE MY JESUS ALONE, WE DON'T HIT PEOPLE WITH WHIPS!"

A brief swordfight follows with Kase obviously being the winner.

He then kneels and tenderly says, "I'll take care of you Jesus, you can be safe in my heart."

OH
MY
SWEET

I immediately felt the lump of tears forming in my throat.  What a blessing it was to witness his sweet and innocent child-like faith this morning!

days of summer

Oh these days of summer...they just go by too fast!
We have one week of school and three weeks of football in the books.
We've (so far) survived our change in schedules, but I'm not sure how many football games we'll attend this year.  With Lydia's early bedtime and Kase's rambunctious demeanor, it's just a bit too exhausting for this Mama to handle by herself :)

Kase's first attempt (yes, first attempt at age 3) at sweet corn...he was not a fan!

Even though it's a sweltering 100 degrees outside, Kase loves to be snuggled in the beach towels!

This is REAL love...brother shares his race cars with sister

This is Daddy's (and Kase's) favorite time of day!
Lately after we put Kase to bed he will get out of bed, sneak into the living room and sweetly say, "I'm having a little bit of trouble sleeping.  Can I snuggle with you?"
How are we supposed to resist?

Some friends of ours gave us a baseball helmet...Kase thinks it's awesome to wear around the house.
Sis isn't so sure about this thing that sits on brother's head.

Molly was less than impressed with Kase's desire to help with her bath.
